Endorsed Candidates

In his first term, Rep. Phelps… refused the typical moral compromises of a representative in a competitive district: voting against new crimes and penalty enhancers, supporting strong protections against federal immigration agents, and fighting without hesitation for trans kids.

David Liners has more than 30 years of experience leading work on policy, faith, and community issues all across Wisconsin. As a former director of the state-wide advocacy group WISDOM, David has fought tirelessly for the people most often harmed or overlooked by status quo politics.

We endorse her both as a socialist and as the clearly best candidate among a field of powerful Democratic Party players – none of whom can match her clear principles, exciting and nationally important campaign, or small donor fundraising prowess. Her grassroots campaign has the potential and the momentum to transform Wisconsin for the better.

As Milwaukee County Supervisor, Rep. Clancy established himself as an outspoken abolitionist dedicated to ending mass incarceration in Wisconsin… He is using that experience to craft transformative legislation at the state level including his seventeen bill Conditions of Confinement package.

..He has already defeated a pro-Israel candidate hand picked by establishment Democrats. We are confident he will do so again.

Ryan Clancy for State Assembly District 19
Democratic primary on August 13, 2024

Ryan Clancy currently represents the 19th district which reaches from Bay View up to the East Side. In his first term in the State Assembly, Clancy has led on housing and tenant protections, improving conditions of confinement and reducing mass incarceration, public safety through community investment, and standing with immigrants, refugees, and asylees. Jessica Katzenmeyer says, “I am proud that WES chose endorse Ryan Clancy for reelection in the 19th Assembly District! Leaders lead by example and they are willing to make tough decisions. Ryan has a long history of getting legislation passed which reflects our values. His experience is crucial and he listens to the needs of his constituents in his district. His primary opponent lacks experience, lacks a voting record, and most importantly lacks a platform to stand on. We are excited to do what we need to do to keep Ryan Clancy elected in the State Assembly! Please join us in support!”

Nathan Kieso for State Assembly District 14
Democratic primary on August 13, 2024

Nathan Kieso is running to represent the 14th district, located in West Allis. Kieso is a mental health social worker and labor organizer. As State Representative, Kieso will fight for healthcare for all, workers rights, sustainable infrastructure, and public education. WES member Tim Schaefer says “Nate Kieso is a mental health social worker, a union rabble rouser, and a longtime member of West Allis’ community.  He’s well-versed in policy-making but knows that skill means little without the power of organizing. Nate is running with heavy union support and encouragement – he’ll be a committed champion for Wisconsin workers.”

Amillia Heredia for State Assembly District 11
Democratic primary on August 13, 2024

Amillia Heredia is running to represent the 11th district, located on the North side of Milwaukee. Heredia is a Graduate Assistant, bartender, advocate, and organizer. As State Representative, Heredia will prioritize access to healthcare, children’s access to safety, and strengthening the state’s foster care system. “Amillia Heredia is a passionate grassroots activist, driven by the policy positions in her platform. Heredia’s graduate studies allow her to see the horizon of what is possible, while her work with youth in the crosshairs of Milwaukee’s abusive police and prison system grounds her in the needs of the present. This unique vision makes us very excited to join other progressive organizations in endorsing Amillia,” said WES member Ben Turk.
